Getting So Big

McKinley is so tall now it's time for more new pajamas...AGAIN! I decided that since summer is coming I would buy her some jammies without feet. As I went out to buy them I needed the 12 month size, so I made another decision...it's time for BIG GIRL pajamas.
Big girl pajamas (as I call them) are the two piercers with no feet. So I picked up some really cute springy looking ones and put the little leggings and t-shirt on her last night. She looked so cute, but it was as if as soon as she put on the big girl pajamas she grew up. She immediately headed over to the stairs, which she rarely does and usually only to sit next to the bottom step with her arm on it like an armrest, and all of the sudden climbed up 11 stairs on her first try!

Also immediately after they were on she started crawling using her knees! She's been "crawling" without using her knees for a while now, it looks more like swimming, but you put on big girl pajamas and suddenly she crawls with her knees! of course she didn't do it consistently, she went back to crawling...scooting...crawling...scooting, but still she finally used them.

My little girl is getting so big, maybe if I go back to feetsie pajamas she'll stay little for a while longer!

Day Off

Well, I took today off because poor little MK is sick. Our sad little one got RSV. I figured today would be pretty relaxing because she's just sort of been cuddly and tired the last couple of days. So, we got up this morning and I left her in her room for a few minutes while I got ready and I came back to this:

Luckily there was only half a bag of diapers to dump! Doesn't she look apologetic though?

McKinley Went Sledding!

Last weekend we had the annual winter party at Bear Lake and I decided it would be a great time to take McKinley sledding for the first time. We bundled up and were headed out.

On the first run Robbie, McKinley and I went down together. The sled we picked was a little slow, we didn't go too far and we turned around backwards. McKinley totally loved it and started laughing. On the second run we got the tabogan and the three of us headed down again. We got some decent speed, so before the jump over the ditch Robbie and I drug our feet to stop, thinking it probably wasn't a good idea to go off a jump with little McKinley on board.

On the third run Robbie wanted to get video so McKinley and I went down alone. We got going so fast, I couldn't stop us, so we went off the jump and over the ditch! There was some nice fresh powder for a landing on the other side. Unfortunately, when we hit the soft powder it came flying up in our faces, so McKinley and I were covered. Then, we almost hit a tree and finally stopped. She wasn't too happy about the snow on her face and started crying, so that was our last run! I'm excited to take her sledding again.

9 Months Old

McKinley is 9 months old now and I just can’t believe it. We took her in to the doctor for her appointment and they did all of the usual measurements. She weighs just over 19 pounds (75%) and she’s 29 inches tall (96%), she’s getting so big.

Here are a few of her favorite things and things she’s really enjoying right now:
Yelling in the kitchen – She has discovered that when she’s in there and she yells her voice seems even louder and she loves it.
Eating cheese – Her favorite is Tillamook medium cheese with Mozerella String Cheese a close second.
Pretending she doesn’t hear us – We will say her name and she won’t look at us, but she immediately gets this huge smile on her face and looks away. She does give in after we say it a few times, looks at us and sometimes giggles about it.
LOVES going to bed – We’re going to enjoy this while we can. When she gets tired and I pick her up and we start up the stairs, she smiles, talks and kicks her legs like crazy. Then when we get into her room and put her in the bed, she usually smiles up at me, kicks her legs again, rolls to her side, sticks her thumb in her mouth (it’s funny, she only does that when she’s going to bed) and goes to sleep.

A Quiet Saturday Night

First of all I have to tell that I'm very excited because for the first time in probably a month my whole house is clean at the same time. Victory is mine!
On another note, Robbie is out going to Redbox to pick up a movie for us to watch tonight, so I have a few minutes on my hands and came across this picture. I totally love this picture, so I just had to put it on my blog. It's from my sister Jenni's wedding back in November and it's all the sisters in my family (Yes Ingrid, you are a sister). Good looking bunch, huh? :)

Really, In Both Ears?

We've taken some little videos of McKinley lately, because we think she's so stinkin' cute, so we put a couple funny moments together in this little video. I think when she's talking it sounds sort of like "Hi Dad", but Robbie doesn't necessarily agree.

McKinley hasn't been herself the last week and half or so. It started off with a crazy fever for several days, followed by a cold that has never gone away. I noticed a second tooth coming in, so I figured that must be it. She's been waking up several times a night and been a little needy too. By last weekend though, the tooth was through, so I thought she'd be back to normal soon. Then on Thursday she suddenly got a rash on her belly and her back and I decided if it wasn't gone by Saturday we should probably take her in to the doctor. Well, Friday rolled around and she was crying every time she tried to sleep, so enough was enough we took her to the doctor. Of course when we got to the doctor she started talking to him and playing with him and smiling everywhere. I'm sure the doctor thought we were crazy...but checked her out anyway. Turns out the poor kiddo has a double ear infection. I felt terrible, she's been trying to tell me for a week and a half. So you don't all think I'm a terrible parent after reading all of this, here is a video of how she was acting 90% of the time, who would guess this kid needed to go to doctor because she had a double ear infection?

My Sweet Grandpa Thomas

My Grandpa is an incredible man. Throughout my life he’s been there for a lot of the special events. He was there when I was blessed, when I was baptized and when I got married. I even received my patriarchal blessing from my Grandpa. I have a lot of fun memories of Grandpa playing with me in his front yard and showing and watching the squirrels with me in his HUGE tree. When I was little he and my grandma would come to Salt Lake each winter, check into a hotel down town and my family and aunts and uncles and cousins all would go see the Christmas lights they put up at Temple Square. When I was a teenager and my grandpa was in his late 80’s he even beat me in an arm wrestle and I was trying as hard as I could. He had a way of always making you feel like you were special…and you were always special to Grandpa.

This Thanksgiving Robbie, McKinley and I had a nice visit with Grandpa. We dropped in on him during lunch and he was excited to see us. We had a great time visiting with him and talked for quite a while, I always loved seeing my grandpa.

This morning my grandpa passed away. He was 97 years old. I will miss him a lot. I will always remember the love he had for everyone, his smile, his happy demeanor and his hugs. I like to think that from time to time he’ll check in on us from heaven and I hope I can make him proud. I love you Grandpa!
